Does your go to sleep without warning resulting in data loss?

Some computers have a conflict with 7. The saving options of the or and do not sit happy with each other resulting in the PC going into mode after just a few minutes of being left unattended.

We have found this to be a particular problem with computers.

Even after telling the Dell PC to “Never” go into saving mode it continued to do so, often freezing the PC in the middle of a program after the computer had been left unattended for a couple of minutes. This would often result in a hard-reset being required to bring the computer back to life, often resulting in a loss of .

We identified the problem as being the and the power saving for the mouse.

Try the following settings and your PC should NEVER go into sleep mode and freeze again

change-power-settings

change-power-settings2

change-power-settings3

change-power-settings4

Remember to click “Apply” and “Save” for these changes to come into effect.

I have Windows Vista O.S. What mine has been doing & cannot seem to find an answer is that my personal computer will shut down after about 5-minutes ONLY if I shut it down previously using Sleep Mode. I get the Blue Screen when it crashes. What in the world could have caused this?

i have a desktop running windows 10 and a gpu amd hd 7770 1gb ddr5 my pc goes to sleep after 5 minutes of usage when i plug in the gpu but without it my pc can last forever but the gpu is not the problem as i took my pc and monitor to my friends house and it was working fine there. i can seem to figure out what the problem is could it be my multi plug? or my entire home it self?

        • IT Guy - November 7, 2017 Reply

possibly a power issue, Try replacing power board or getting house checked by Electrician

In what world would Microsoft think ANYONE would want this setting to be set to enabled by default?

“You know what I REALLY want from my computer?? A stupid feature in which it automatically sleeps after 2 minutes while I’m working on a math problem for homework. Yes, that would be supremely wonderful.”

My computer does not enter sleep mode until I choose the “sleep mode” option. The problem is that when I wake it up from sleep mode, it automatically got back into sleep mode after 5 minutes. The only way to stop it going in to sleep mode is to restart the machine. After restart, it stays out of sleep mode until I select sleep mode again, and when it comes out of sleep mode, it automatically go back into sleep mode after 5 minutes. This makes the sleep mode option worthless because I have to do a hard reset each time after I use it. I might as well just turn off my machine under these circumstances.

This is indeed a major problem that seems to have come from a Microsoft update that forces the standby – I have solved this issue simply by having media player play a song repeatedly in the background with volume at zero – this seems to keep the show going as long as I wish 🙂

My pc goes to sleep after 10 minutes because I work on an application which forces it to sleep. If i dont work on that application, it does not itself sleep.
Please tell me how to stop the application to force my pc to sleep. Please.

You should not be running XP…it expired years ago and is a major security threat. Suggest you buy a new machine with Windows 10

    • D Jay Cee - August 18, 2017 Reply

who still uses XP? at least get to WIn 7! they will support till 2020.

Oh, and i already knew this fix…i was wondering if there was anything new on this issue…i guess not.
