Apple latest OS (El Capitan) iOS 10.11 was made available on the Australian App Store yesterday (30 September 2015) should I download now or wait a while?
It seems like everyone wants to download El Capitan at the same time.
As of October 1st…. our attempt to download told us it would take almost 2 days ….and then 4 hours into the download it failed.
Our suggestion is to wait a few days until the congestion has past before attempting th upgrade….. then this is how to download and install it.
This is a FREE update and fixes many bugs and security issues more than anything.
Click on the Apple symbol in the top left of your screen and then select “About This Mac” and then “Software Update”
or click on “App Store” then “Updates”
BEFORE COMMENCING ….if you are doing this on a Macbook, MacBook Air or Macbook Pro, please ensure that the power cable is plugged in and and charging your battery.
If the installation fails mid way through because the battery goes flat, the system may become corrupt and you may need to return it to Apple or an Apple Technician to fix and/or reinstall
Once it downloads, you will see the following, click “Continue” to start the installation.
Follow the prompts to complete the installation
If you need assistance in checking the above and performing the updates, give us a call on 08 6365 5603 and make an appointment to come and see us. Prices for our iOS health-check and backup service for Apple devices starts at $30 for a 15 minute session.
