Guide 2 – How to compare your internet speed with your area average

Guide 3 – What Alternative internet services are available at my address?

Guide 4 – How to test my modem. Does it need replacing?

Guide 5 – General tips on increasing your internet and Wi-Fi speed.

If non of the solutions suggested in the above guides work and you have no other services available to upgrade to and your area in not scheduled for an NBN upgrade for months or years, you only have two alternatives left to you:

  1. Install a second ADSL line …. this will probably only double the pathetic speed you already have with your current ADSL line but 2 mbps is better than 1 Mbps!!! The IT Guys (WA) Recommend AMNET in the Perth Metro Area as our Internet Service Provider of choice. You can download an application from at this link. UNLIMITED Naked ADSL connections for only $70 per month.

  2. Install a Mobile Broadband solution – 4G or 3G solutions are available from all major telco’s. But as there are only two real mobile Network alternatives (all other Telco’s piggy-back of one of these two) go no further than Telstra or Optus.

Mobile Broadband comes of age, thanks to Telstra

Optus have a similar network in major metro areas (not in the country). Optus claim similar speeds in the metro areas starting from $10 per monthIf you need to extend and share the mobile signal over the house or a business you may also need to purchase a 3G/4G WAN Router such as this one from D-Link
