Have you recently noticed your iPhone or iPad running out of mobile data allowance mid-month?
There are two or three reason why this could be happening. The usual culprit is “Data Roaming“,
“Settings” -> “Mobile” -> “Data Roaming”
but we've come across another which you may not know about. On an iPad or iPhone goto
“Settings” -> “iTunes & App Store”
is “Use Mobile Data” switched “ON” as per the picture below?
Unless you have a big data-allowance, we would suggest turning this “OFF” by sliding the button to the left.
By leaving this on, the iPhone or iPad will automatically download and update “Apps” and “Updates” as per this example but could also include “Music” and “Books” if you were to have these options switched on.
As long as you have regular access to a Wi-Fi network all Automatic Downloads will update regularly.
Another way to stop this happening is to switch all “Automatic Downloads” to the “OFF” position and then updating them manually.
